It is not uncommon to have mixed feelings about starting therapy. We are inclined to avoid uncomfortable thoughts and feelings. If you are here because you are considering therapy, we are honoured that you are in the process! We are here to make the journey more tolerable for you.

You may have questions about the process - whether you're completely new or have been going to therapy for a long time. This page aims to help you answer some of your questions about therapy.

Note that the FAQ list is not exhaustive. If you still have questions or need further clarity on any of the questions captured, please contact us and feel free to ask us – we will get back to you within 24 hours.

We provide an integrative approach to treatment and offer individualized treatment plans to every client. We focus on building a therapeutic relationship with you by creating a safe and non-judgmental space to explore your vulnerabilities. Your healing and well-being are our priority.
We are compassionate, genuine and direct. We will challenge and empower you as you identify and change unhelpful patterns, behaviours and thinking. We want you to be the best version of yourself, including if that means transformation, transition and/or growth. We offer individual and couples psychotherapy services for clients with varying needs.
Booking a consultation is not mandatory; however, we recommend it. These sessions aim to establish a fit between the therapist and the client. It is also an opportunity for the client to ask any pertinent questions. These consultations are offered at NO COST to the client. We want the client to feel comfortable before committing to work with the therapist.
Simply contact us to request a complimentary consultation. Once you and the therapist establish a fit for your needs, you will be invited to create an account on the Jane App by clicking "Book Now" on our website. You will receive intake forms to fill out before your intake session. Please note that each person must fill out their forms for couples sessions.
We are currently an entirely virtual clinic.
There is no "usually" with therapy treatment. It is based on the individual and the circumstances around their issues. We set goals collaboratively, and you are under no obligation to continue. You can terminate at any time if you do not feel it is the right fit for you.
Each session lasts approximately 50 minutes. A session can be shortened or extended based on your needs. Sessions can be weekly, biweekly, monthly, etc.; you and your therapist will decide.

Greenspace assessment provides an avenue for the therapist and their client to check in with each other regularly, reflect on objective symptom change data together and uncover insights or patterns that can inform treatment decisions. Greenspace provides measurement-based care involving tracking client progress throughout treatment, using consistent Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMS).
Yes, as needed. We are advocating for you in and outside of sessions. We want to empower our clients to become self-confident as experts in their own lives. Homeworks allow clients to continue to build upon the skills they learn in therapy and make lasting changes in their lives. They are set collaboratively with the client. We aim to make it suitable to your needs but also realistic and achievable.
Homework could look like providing psychoeducational resources or sharing worksheets with strategies based on our work together through email. We often encourage clients to consider specific reflective questions based on our sessions intentionally. Reflection questions are designed to encourage you to think deeply and introspectively about your experiences, emotions, and behaviours. Through this process, you can gain greater self-awareness, identify patterns and triggers contributing to your distress, and develop new coping strategies.
We place a high priority on confidentiality. Your therapist will respect your confidentiality and not acknowledge you in public. Unless you approach and speak to your therapist, they will defer to you to lead based on your comfort if your therapist sees you in public.
It is totally up to you to say hello and break your confidentiality. If you say hello, your therapist will then acknowledge you in public. This is YOUR process, and it is essential to us that you are comfortable even outside of the session.
